And instead of a ship, a bicycle was just as good for journeys around the wide surroundings. In these short stories, the writer recalls memories of his childhood and school years, of adventures and mishaps at home, while helping on neighboring farms, on the way to school, and at school itself. With affection, he remembers his parents, his grandfather and his bees, his sister, friends, and classmates. He tries his first swimming strokes in a nearby pond and dreams of putting on a circus performance.
