This entry includes the first part of the e-book "Ljubezen v delu Skrivno življenje Pascala Quignarda" (Love in the work The Secret Life by Pascal Quignard) by author Nika Štumberger (COBISS.SI-ID 289874691, ISBN 978-961-7283-59-4). Chance or fate—two sides of the same coin—would have it that the moment the book I am writing about entered my life—a book that so powerfully emphasizes the role and significance of love—became inextricably linked to my first serious romance. That moment was a true revelation; looking back now with the perspective of age and greater detachment, I see that it perhaps left a deeper mark on my life than my affection for the person who introduced me to the book. I was struck by its unusual nature, by a sincerity that felt almost naked, and by the presence of something left unsaid. Such was my encounter with this book, which immediately evoked in me a sense of mystery and profundity. It became my favorite—the one I returned to time and again, a source of wise thoughts and useful quotes—likely precisely because I never fully understood it. Its ideas are not served up on a silver platter; rather, they demand not only re-reading but also a breadth of knowledge that cannot be acquired all at once. This book also hints at things that cannot truly be put into words. Underlying it all is the constant awareness that the essence is ultimately ineffable, and that everything written is merely circling the issue without quite touching the core.
