Škratovile are not ordinary fairies. Nor are they goblins. A Škratovila is born when a fairy and a goblin meet and fall in love. “I’ll have a little snack, then I’ll move on,” he thought. He was surprised to find that the moss wasn’t damp at all, but dry and pleasantly warm. He ate a sandwich, drank some water from his canteen, and suddenly his eyelids grew heavy … He fell asleep. He woke with a startled cry because something had given him a sharp pinch on the nose. He opened his eyes and saw two tiny eyes gazing mischievously at him. “What a strange dream!” exclaimed Štefan.
