Dr. Martina Potisk is a scholar of literature and a literary critic. After graduating from the First Grammar School in Maribor, she studied Slovene Studies at the Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor. She earned her degree in 2011 with a thesis on intertextuality in the novels of Drago Jančar. In 2018, she obtained her doctorate in contemporary Slovene literature, focusing her research on interculturality in the contemporary Slovene novel. Throughout her secondary and university education, she was a recipient of the Zois Scholarship. She has authored scholarly and professional studies featured in symposium and seminar proceedings as well as journals such as "Obdobja", "SSJLK", "Jezik in slovstvo", "Slavia Centralis", "Slavica Tergestina", "Slovstvena folkloristika", "Časopis za zgodovino in narodopisje", "Philological Studies", "Vzgoja in izobraževanje", and "Slovenščina v šoli". Since 2012, she has written literary criticism for publications including "Mentor", "Literatura", "Dialogi", "Sodobnost", and "Ars"; since 2020, she has written primarily for the newspaper "Delo". In 2019, she received the Stritar Award for literary criticism and was nominated for "Name of the Week" on the radio station Val 202. Among other activities, she participated in the 6th International Critics' Symposium "The Art of Criticism" (Ljubljana, 2019) and served on evaluation juries for the Slovenian Book Fair Award for Best Debut, the Stritar Award, and the Glazer Award (literature category), as well as on the Commission for Books and Publishing Activities of the Municipality of Maribor. She is a member of the Association of Slovenian Literary Critics. |
