dc.description	This entry contains the first part of the e-book "Koncerti za oboo" (Concertos for oboe) by Nenad Veličković translated into Slovenian by Đurđa Strsoglavec and published by Založba /*cf in Ljubljana in 2026 (COBISS.SI-ID: 288364547, ISBN: 978-961-257-208-2). "I wrote the book after my father’s death. Before that, we had lived together for fifteen years in an apartment in a high-rise building, often as strangers to one another. With this book, I tried to postpone his second death. (In keeping with that well-known saying that the first death is physical, and the second is when no one remembers us anymore.) It was meant to be a kind of apology for everything I did wrong or failed to do right; but then the book about my father slowly began to turn into a book about me: as I wrote, I realized how very much we resembled each other, except that I had adapted his traits (which, from start to finish, got on my nerves terribly) to my own time and environment. Mimicry. So the intention was good—gratitude, an apology—but fortunately, the whole thing didn’t slip into some kind of pathos, because I didn’t sugarcoat anything; I let the story unfold honestly. I was in a hurry; I wanted to finish in time for the book to be published before the first anniversary of his death, which is why certain events, certain images, and certain episodes—though excellent in their own right—are not in the book, simply because I didn’t remember them while writing. No matter—the story is such that many of you can fill in the gaps with your own memories."
