dc.description	This entry contains the first part of the e-book "Kdo mi je ubil očeta" (Who killed my father) by Édouard Louis translated into Slovenian by Iztok Ilc and published by Založba /*cf in Ljubljana in 2026 (COBISS.SI-ID: 288156419, ISBN: 978-961-257-203-7) Through his personal story, Édouard explores family relationships. As the only one who managed to leave his impoverished background (to study in Paris), he is now able to look back on it in the broader context of social, political, and economic realities. He is particularly interested in his father and their relationship. He writes about how he perceived his father as a boy and as a growing teenager, and how his father appears to him from the perspective of the present. Their environment was working-class; in this marginalized corner of France, there was widespread exploitation, poverty, homophobia, violence, and alcoholism. The situation was further exacerbated by unemployment. Young (and poor) people were cut off from a proper education. The political decisions of the wealthy ruling class have financial, social, and health implications. The inability to live a life that is even remotely dignified has both causes and consequences. Loving and understanding—or realizing that you can love at all—is important. What is it like to love your father when you’ve gone through some pretty tough times with him, filled with fear and disapproval?
