dc.description	This entry contains the first part of the audiobook "Milost" (Mercy) by author Evald Flisar (COBISS ID: 279982083, ISBN: 978-961-7166-19-4). Through a series of short poetic forms that move between lyrical confession, haiku, micro-prose, and essay, while thematically touching on our perceptual being thrown into the world and the search for a relationship with the other (the other as an individual, nature, and history), the text seeks out such fissures, spaces of emptiness where grace is at work. It is guided by an old Hindu proverb which says that dreams are the present, everyday life is the past, and the abyss without dreams is our future. Here, the boundary between the individual and the collective past is blurred, as they are driven by the same impulses; we experience shared traumas, and our most intimate dreams mirror the universal: “I awoke from the collective nightmare into my own, and in it I saw an angel. He stood in the sun and called out in a strong voice to all the birds flying in the middle of the sky.” [from the poem “Revelation”] And because grace cannot be summoned or found, since it operates in spaces it hollows out itself, this writing is, at its core, an act of hope, a waiting beyond meaning: an oscillation between faith and abandonment.
