Tone Hočevar is a journalist, editor, correspondent and author of numerous articles and documentaries. Wherever he and his family travelled around the world, they were accompanied by dogs. “They contributed a great deal, truly a great deal, to helping me uncover the backgrounds and truths that I would otherwise never have discovered. In Mexico, Cuba and Italy. We took them with us, flying from Mexico to Ljubljana, then to Cuba and back to Ljubljana again,” Tone wrote in his memoir Temptations. In this book, readers will meet playful, fierce, hunting and affectionate dogs who enriched the Hočevar family’s lives and sometimes even saved them. Once again, Tone Hočevar proves himself to be an excellent storyteller. Into his stories about canine heroes, including a rescue dog, a therapy dog, a dog trained to warn when action was required because of diabetes and even a film star, Hočevar weaves memories of his childhood and his years spent living around the world, an overview of Slovenian cynology and, above all, numerous witty and mischievous adventures and pranks starring his four-legged friends.
