In this edition, we have dedicated ourselves to Prešeren's sonnets, published in Poezije and those he wrote in German. The sonnet is the form in which the poet's mastery is most clearly demonstrated: Prešeren combines a strict structure with exceptional expressive power, which gives it lasting freshness and influence even in contemporary poetry. The collection brings together Slovenian sonnets and German sonnets, which were later translated by Oton Župančič, which provides insight into Prešeren's thought in two languages and into the way in which translation expands the understanding of the original. The poet translated two sonnets himself. The edition is intended for poetry lovers, as well as students and researchers who want to gain an in-depth understanding of the formal peculiarities and multifaceted nature of Prešeren's sonnet opus, as well as its enduring relevance.
