The story begins when Tina, as a university student, helps clean out the attic of Prešeren's parish in Breznica during the Slovenian Cultural Holiday. Among the old documents, they discover two manuscripts by Prešeren. Nejc is in the ninth grade, while Tina has just enrolled at the Faculty of Arts. To mark the Slovenian Cultural Holiday, teaching assistant Dr. Urh, together with his assistant Val, organizes a "Cleaning Up After Prešeren" campaign in Breznica. As they carry down piles of old papers from the attic, they uncover an unknown early love poem by Prešeren. But this extraordinary manuscript suddenly falls into the hands of suspicious individuals. A private detective appears, along with two criminal investigators, and the distinguished Professor Dr. Janez Marn also becomes involved. Meanwhile, unknown assailants even try to intimidate the Erjavec family—happy, or perhaps hilariously dysfunctional—and threaten their lives.
