 Description

This entry contains the first part of the audiobook ”In zmaj je pojedel sonce" (And the dragon ate the sun) by author Aksinja Kermauner (COBISS.SI-ID 301502979, ISBN 978-961-7279-61-0), read by Mirjam Kepic. In her travel novel, Aksinja Kermauner offers teenage readers a literary window not only into another country, but also into the differences and struggles of the main characters, which are even harder to confront in unfamiliar surroundings. Their emotional states shape their perceptions of China as they assess its perfections and imperfections—a land of wisdom and madness, kindness and despair, modernity and a culture stretching back thousands of years. The author, who has spent decades working with blind and partially sighted young people, has chosen Sunčan, an almost completely blind boy struggling with the painful search for identity, as her main character. His journey to China does, however, bring him some answers. The novel is more than an original travelogue through China; it is also a much-needed guide for sighted readers to the world of the blind.
