 Description

This entry contains the first part of the audiobook "O čem ne govorimo" (What we don’t talk about) by author Slavenka Drakulić, translated to Slovenian by Aleksandra Rekar and narrated by Mojka Končar (COBISS.ID 303184387, ISBN 978-961-298-626-1). "What we don’t talk about" is a poignant yet deeply intimate collection of stories in which Slavenka Drakulić—with precision, courage, and empathy—explores subjects about which society often remains silent. The book touches upon the body, illness, aging, fear, shame, and the boundaries of privacy—those small yet pivotal moments that shape the human experience, yet which we scarcely dare to discuss, as they tend to evoke discomfort in almost everyone. The author weaves together personal fragments and literary fiction, underpinned by broader social commentary; this creates a sense of immediacy that invites the reader to reflect on all those things they would prefer to avoid—once and for all. As in her previous works, Slavenka Drakulić once again uses gentle humor and critical clarity to lift the veil on what it truly means to be vulnerable—and, consequently, profoundly human.
