 Description

This entry contains the first part of the audiobook "Modri Portugalec" (The blue Portuguese) by author Peter Svetina and narrated by Rok Kravanja (COBISS.SI-ID 292954115, ISBN 978-961-7279-57-3). As we step into Peter Svetina’s short novel, the ground gives way beneath our feet, and we find ourselves in an unusual, at times grotesque, imaginary world. Alongside Anja Klara and Hyacinth the rat, we gradually discover this land, its absurd rules and eccentric inhabitants. The chronicler, who takes walks with Penzl the paint roller, and the General, who briskly issues orders such as “Don’t sneeze with a full nose!”, “Don’t eat on a full stomach!” and “Don’t laugh at tasteless jokes!”, immediately win our affection. But our journey takes us further, and we find ourselves in grave danger: Vlada Rizzi commands a camp for forgotten children… Through carefully crafted language, Peter Svetina conjures a meticulously imagined world that subtly reflects the moral and ethical questions of our everyday lives. With a generous dose of humour and even affection for human quirks and weaknesses, the author cuts to the heart of today’s most pressing problems while also pointing clearly towards a solution.
