Description: This entry contains the first part of the audiobook "Tisoč ptic" (A thousand birds) by author Andreja Peklar (COBISS.SI-ID 293653763, ISBN 978-961-7279-59-7), read by Rok Kravanja. The king of a distant land lives in a palace, lonely amid its splendour. Only birdsong can carry him beyond its walls and bring a smile to his face. One evening, he hears an extraordinary song and longs to listen to it night and day, day after day. So he orders the tiny bird of paradise to be caught and locked in a cage. But once caged, the bird will not sing. His servants bring more and more birds and build a new cage, even larger and more beautiful, but all in vain—the birds still will not sing. The king’s last hope is a boy from the outskirts of the city. All he has is a cage with a bird inside that sings beautifully. What is his secret?
