 Description

This entry contains the first part of the e-book "Zgodba, ki se je morala zgoditi" (The story that was meant to be) by author Andrej Brvar (COBISS ID: 287725059, ISBN: 978-961-7249-92-7). A moving and masterfully written family saga set against a broader historical and social backdrop, recounting the love story and life journey of the poet’s parents up to the time of his birth. Published to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, this anniversary edition tells a deeply personal yet universal story of love, exile, loss, and resilience. The story of a young love unfolds alongside the ominous approach of war, which cuts into the lives of the young couple with all its brutality. Faced with the prospect of permanent separation, the young woman chooses voluntary exile so that they may remain together. Deported to Čačak, Serbia, they find refuge, marry, and begin a family. Yet happiness is soon overshadowed by tragedy when both of their children die within a few months of each other. From this profound loss, however, another life emerges: the poet himself, who was born the following year and now tells their story.
