dc.description	This entry includes the first part of the e-book "Razblinjene dlani" (Dissolved palms) by author Borut Gombač (COBISS.SI-ID 291154179, ISBN 978-961-7292-20-6). In the 1980s, we read the prose of Franjo Frančič and Andrej Blatnik, the essays of Aleš Debeljak and Marko Crnkovič, and the poetry of Rade Krstič and... Borut Gombač. Magazine publications were followed by debut books, yet Borut Gombač persisted with magazine contributions—though even these became increasingly rare. It seemed the poet had found other literary genres to test his gift: prose, children's literature, and radio drama. Those of us following him only from afar had no inkling that his highly distinctive and compelling poetic voice had not fallen silent for even a moment. I imagine how, over the years, his drawer filled with poems, yet the poet’s hands were exacting when it came to selecting and evaluating the texts. Just as exacting is his pen, which touches the whiteness of the paper with great restraint, rarely leaving a mark. Poems are made of words; thus, every single word must be questioned, examined, and tested on the tongue a hundred times over before it is permitted—and able—to take its place in the sequence of other words. That is why Gombač’s poems are so sparing with words, and why the collection "Razblinjene dlani" (Dissolved palms) contains so much white space and so few poems. But—what poems they are!
