This entry includes the first part of the e-book "Življenja knjig z domačih knjižnih polic" (The lives of books from home bookshelves) by author Pia Marincelj (COBISS.SI-ID 289903107, ISBN 978-961-7283-42-6). The text "The lives of books from home bookshelves" introduces two significant innovations to the study of book markets. On the one hand, by examining changes in domestic interior design over the past fifty years, it identifies how the role of books in everyday life has evolved; on the other, through a survey of avid readers and book buyers, it determines which book genres predominate in home libraries. In doing so, the text applies empirical research methods to areas previously discussed, written about, or contemplated solely on the basis of anecdotal evidence, thereby making a significant contribution to our understanding of the immediate and broader environments in which we live.
