| dc.description | This entry includes the first part of the e-book "Vojna in ljubezen v proznem opusu Draga Jančarja" (War and love in the prose of Drago Jančar) by author Dejan Gabrovšek (COBISS.SI-ID 289588995, ISBN 978-961-7283-37-2). In his monograph, Slovenist and comparatist Dejan Gabrovšek thoroughly examines two themes that hold a pivotal place in Jančar’s body of prose work. Through a detailed interpretation of the works "Katarina, pav in jezuit" (Katarina, the peacock and the Jesuit), "Drevo brez imena" (The tree without a name), "To noč sem jo videl" (I saw her that night), and "In ljubezen tudi" (And lovetToo), he identifies the parallels traced by the themes of war and love within these novels and describes their role in shaping Jančar’s characters, narratives, and thematic orientations. Gabrovšek’s analysis demonstrates that war and love—though polar opposites—constantly intertwine, complement, and thematically test one another in Jančar’s work. Ultimately, however, it is fate that turns the cards of the characters' lives—acting as the supreme authority that links these two themes. |
