Matej Mertik is a Slovenian author who intertwines scientific and lyrical creativity in his work. His writings—including his debut novel "Kapitan, na Zemlji izginjajo marjetice" (Captain, Daisies Are Vanishing from Earth), the literary travelogues "Tri srca – Prlekija" (Three Hearts – Prlekija) and "Polet nočnega papagaja" (Flight of the Night Parrot), and the poetry collection "Likalnik na muhte"—are characterized by imaginative narrative approaches that reveal a lyrical persona experiencing and perceiving the world in a unique way. In addition to his literary pursuits, he is active in the scientific field. He worked as a research scientist at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, where he was part of the machine protection and electrical integrity team during the commissioning of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Through his work, he makes a significant contribution to the development of information technologies and artificial intelligence in Slovenia, as well as to the promotion of science and art within the broader community. "Še lunin prah bi pobral iz belih" is his fourth poetry collection and seventh standalone book.
