This entry contains the first part of the audiobook "Pobožal sem polje na desni" (I caressed the field on the right) by author Vili Telassani and Barbara Cerar (COBISS ID: 279985667, ISBN: 978-961-272-884-7). Vili is born as Shaukat El Telassani in Damascus. When he is not yet ten years old, his father separates him from his family for reasons unknown and takes him to Palestine, where he becomes Jichak Hillel. Determined to fight against fascism and Nazism, he enlists in the British Army on the last day of 1941. What lies before us is his diary—a record not only of military life, but also of his search for love, his admiration of nature, and his quest to find his place in the world. As a soldier, Vili makes his way all the way to Italy, where he begins to put down his first small roots. But with the end of the war, he must return to his homeland. A little over a year later, he returns. From the ship sailing towards Rijeka, he catches sight of his beloved Italy. He settles in Koper as Vili Telassani and starts a family. He rarely speaks about his past—but he leaves behind a small black notebook: his diary.
