| dc.description | This entry contains the first part of the audiobook "Škarje" (Scissors) by author Suzana Tratnik (COBISS ID: 287130115, ISBN: 978-961-7267-11-2). The stories in this collection offer a broader perspective on developments in alternative cultures and politics since the 1980s. In terms of content, they draw on events at the turning points and numerous intersections between so-called ghettoized culture and mainstream culture. At the same time, they recount the individual fates of their heroines and heroes, both in their local surroundings and within the intellectual milieu found in smaller (local) communities as well as abroad. The fairly realistic portrayals of an unusual rebellious schoolgirl who struggles to articulate herself, an activist whose dreams of a “greater” love and community in the metropolis dissolve, and others ultimately lead to a concluding humorous story about a disappointed and angry woman who consciously decides to end her life—but wants to do so legally and on her own terms. |
