In his essays, Uroš Zupan, moving at the unhurried pace of an idiosyncratic and solitary wanderer, gently draws us into reflecting on books and, above all, into reading. He does so almost effortlessly, for this outstanding poet and essayist is, in truth, "simply" sharing his thoughts with us, following the paths of his own reading passions. With refined and sparingly measured strokes, he brings before us masters of the written word - Šalamun, Debeljak, Švabić and others - while also sharing a wealth of anecdotes. In the background, the melodies of songs that have marked the different decades of our lives continue to echo. Once again, Zupan demonstrates his gift for capturing the soft light of the past and for listening closely to the subtle rhythms of life, whether that life is real and lived or preserved between the covers of a book.
