dc.description	This entry includes the first part of the e-book "Okupacija" (Occupation) by author Gal Prevoršek (COBISS.SI-ID 275187459, ISBN 978-961-7272-63-5). The novel "Occupation" depicts the lives of people in Slovenian territory—primarily in Maribor and the Savinja Valley—during the Second World War. Through the stories of the two Dolinšek brothers, we gain insight into the tragic occupation of the former Kingdom of Yugoslavia—ranging from the realities of rural life and the rise of resistance movements to the story of a young Slovenian man conscripted into the German army who witnesses the entrenchment of the occupying regime in Maribor. Although the brothers find themselves on opposing sides, they share a common goal: to help their people. The novel takes a critical look at all totalitarian regimes, reveals the nation's deep divisions, and conveys the message that the Slovenian people can find unity once more by transcending ideological differences. A romantic subplot further illustrates that, in times of suffering, love offers the only hope for escaping despair.
