On 22 November 2023, from 09:30 to 11:45, DARIAH-SI<\/a> is organising a practical workshop on the SSH Open Marketplace for the Social Sciences and Humanities<\/a>\u00a0at the Institute of Contemporary History<\/a> (Privoz 11, Ljubljana), led by Dr. Edward J. Gray<\/strong>, Research Infrastructure Coordinator at IR* Huma-Num (CRNS)<\/a> and Head of the National Coordination of the DARIAH ERIC<\/a>. The topic of the workshop will be the SSH Open Marketplace, a portal that brings together and contextualises the resources of the social sciences and humanities research communities.<\/p>\n

The workshop will be held in English and participants will need laptops for the practical part.<\/strong>

SSH Open Marketplace for Social Sciences and Humanities Workshop<\/strong>

About workshop:<\/em> The SSH Open Marketplace is a portal that aggregates and contextualises resources from the social sciences and humanities research communities. Tools, services, learning materials, databases, publications and workflows are available to users.
\nThe SSH Open Marketplace<\/a> is the result of the Horizon 2020 funded SSHOC project and is maintained by three ERICs: DARIAH, CLARIN and CESSDA. The Marketplace is a priority for the DARIAH network, as it publishes national contributions from DARIAH members. The Marketplace API also feeds the DARIAH Tools and Services Catalogue. Together, the two platforms can therefore be used to valorise the tools and services made available to the DARIAH community.
\nThe workshop is designed in two parts. In the initial part we will introduce what the Open Marketplace is and how it is used. In the second part, participants will be invited to write and document a scenario of their research work based on the tools and research methods they use in their daily work and upload these scenarios to the Marketplace.<\/p>\n

About the speaker<\/em>: Edward J. Gray<\/strong> is Research Infrastructure Coordinator at IR* Huma-Num (CRNS) and Head of National Coordination at DARIAH ERIC, the European Research Infrastructure for Digital Arts and Humanities.He is an active member of the editorial board of the Open Marketplace for the Social Sciences and Humanities. He holds a PhD in History from Purdue University.As a postdoctoral student at the \u00c9cole nationale des charts in Paris, he obtained a Master’s degree in applied digital technologies in the field of history, and is active as a lecturer in this field. He is also President of ADEMEC, the association of graduate students and lecturers at the Ecole des Chartes. Before joining Huma-Num, he was Coordinator for Digital Humanities at the Maison Europ\u00e9enne des Sciences de l’Homme et de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 in Lille. He received his PhD in History from Purdue University in 2015 and his BA from the University of Alabama in 2013.<\/p>\n
